Andy Warhol

1. Within what art genre did Warhol work?
 He used pop art.
 
2. Define the genre?
 It was a modern type of art

3. During what years was he alive?
From 1928 to 1687

5. Title of the piece?
1st: 100 cans of soup. 2nd: Mr. America.
 
6. Describe the color that he utilizes. Does he use any particular color scheme?
1st: The colors he used in this image are yellow, red, and white. And he always used the analogous color scheme.
2nd: He used black and pink.
 
7. What do you notice about the artwork itself?
1st: I notice the red makes the soup cans pop out and you notice it more.
2nd: Since the background is black the pink pops so much and make the image look so much better. If the background was white, the knifes wouldn't look as good as they do now.

Review week 9


1. Compare and contrast vector graphics and pixel images.
  Vector images are defined by mathematical equations. They are scalable to any size, so they have really good quality. Pixel are the smell squares that make up your image.  

2. What resolution is necessary to print raster images?

3. What resolution is necessary to display raster images on the internet? 
72 DPI

Steve Jobs

1. Who is Steve Jobs?
   He was co found, chairman, and chief executive officer of Apple Inc
2. What company was he CEO for many years?
Pixar animation studios
 
3. What did he do for the computer industry?
He innovated the entire industry and created a lot of new technology for apple users.
 
4. How did this man impact the graphic design industry?
He made technology and programs that helped graphic designers work efficiently and made the process easier on them.

Review week 8

1.Why must designers pay close attention to how color is utilized within a composition?
 Color is very important and you want to have the right colors in your work so they all work together to make a good creative design. Color sets the tone of the image

2. Why is the color wheel an important tool for graphic designers?
 So you can find different color schemes to use in the design

3. Find an example of neutral colors utilized within a design (hint: google poster design). Near the sample, discuss why you feel the designer included neutral colors within the composition.

How do we see color if objects "have no color of their own"?
when the absorb or reflect colors

Within the electromagnetic spectrum, which waves allow us to see color?
visible light

white light?
equal parts of all colors in visible spectrum

What is a glass prism?
transparent triangular object that breaks white light into all colors of the visible light spectrum

What seven colors result when white light is refracted through a prism?
red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.

Describe hue?
the color itself

When does white light occur?
when all the wave lengths are reflected back to your eye.

When does black light occur?
no light is reflected back to your eye

How color is perceived depends on what?
type of light that it is seen in

What is a color wheel?
visual tool that shows the relationship between primary, secondary, and tertiary colors.

What are primary colors? Name them?
red, blue, yellow

What are secondary colors? Name them?
2 primary colors mixed together; orange, green, purple.

What are tertiary colors? Name them?
Primary color and a secondary color mixed together. red-orange, yellow-orange, yellow--green, blue-green, blue-violet, red-violet

What are neutral colors? How can they be created?
colors of very slow saturation. mixing complimentary colors.

How can a neutral color help a design?
put focus on other colors, or tone down other colors

What are complementary colors? Name them?
Colors positioned opposite of each other on the color wheel. red and green, orange and blue, yellow and violet

What is color value?
lightness or darkness of a hue

What is a shade?
adding black to a hue

What is a tint?
adding white to a hue

What is saturation/intensity?
brightness of a color

What happens when you mix complementary colors together?
You produce a dull tone

Describe color harmony?
Pleasing arrangement of parts, helps create visual interest and sense of order.

What is a color scheme?
Harmonious color combinations used to create style and appeal

Describe a monochromatic color scheme?
Uses tints and shades of one color

Describe an analogous color scheme?
Uses three colors that are adjacent to each other on the color wheel.

two colors opposite of each other on the color wheel

Uses three colors, One color-two adjacent to its compliment

Uses three colors equally spaced around the color wheel.

Express aggression, excitement and danger; strong and welcoming. Bold and energetic
